Klooster van Alcobaça

Een UNESCO-werelderfgoedlocatie, het klooster van Alcobaça is een meesterwerk van gotische architectuur. Het werd gesticht in de 12e eeuw en zit vol geschiedenis, indrukwekkend steenwerk en het liefdesverhaal van koning Pedro en Inês de Castro, wier graven zich binnenin bevinden.

Nazare

Je hebt misschien wel eens gehoord van de ‘grote golven van Nazaré’.

Nazaré is een levendig kustplaatsje op slechts 15 minuten van Alcobaça, beroemd om zijn stranden, verse zeevruchten in het centrum, een adembenemend uitzicht vanaf Sítio da Nazaré en recordbrekende golven bij Praia do Norte.

Obidos

Een schilderachtig middeleeuws dorp, omringd door kasteelmuren. Wandel door geplaveide straatjes met witgekalkte huisjes en bloemen, snuffel tussen lokale ambachten en proef een glaasje Ginja, een traditionele kersenlikeur die vaak wordt geserveerd in een chocoladecup.
